Inspired?

My goal, my purpose, my drive in writing for martial arts, self-defense, personal safety courses, wellness, and self-coaching (normally self-help but it’s an abused term like self-defense), has always been to serve the reader. To cut through the bullshit and give you the 20% that provides 80% of the value.

I’ve continuously challenged myself to do so.

What about the other 20% you need? Put it in practice and you’ll figure it out.

Every project I take on, I grow. I grow as a writer, as a human, and often in many subtle ways that I carry with me everywhere. I’ve stopped squashing myself so others are more comfortable. I’m going to continue to do new things, be challenged, challenge what’s considered normal, and live an exciting life. Maybe next year I’ll take on learning the banjo… who knows.

Right now, a focus of mine is on understanding my body as much as I humanly can. Reading, studying, and applying the knowledge from my nutrition and fitness certifications to build a healthier body and outlook. I continuously grow and evolve as a result. (This is currently on the path to becoming my next book.)

The world is not my boundary, it’s a chance
to explore, evolve, grow, and develop myself.

My ultimate potential is different than yours. I will not likely become the ultimate bodybuilder, or the healthiest human being on earth despite my continuous efforts (over the course of 16 years now). I am not the greatest martial artist that lived, despite 30 plus years of training. I will not likely be the greatest artist despite having done art since I was a small boy.

Reaching my potential doesn’t mean that I will perfect something, something I’d always thought it meant. Success for me has always been tainted by what others viewed as successful. My perspective continues to evolve as I realize the more I let go of that tired-ass perspective and embrace what I’m capable of, the less I am bound.

My single goal in life, my purpose,
is to be an inspiration to myself. Nobody else.

If I do that one thing, perhaps others will also be inspired to be an inspiration to themselves. When I do the things I do, I do them hoping that they will serve others, or bring them joy, or challenge them, but I also do them to become an inspiration to myself.

What inspires you?

If you have never considered this before, grab yourself a copy of the upcoming companion book, Bypass The Bullshit!: Do The Work and take that up a notch.

Kick some ass,
Coach Sean
